"NO SURRENDER"

In June 15 of 2018, Plogue gave this voice for testers to showcase to other people.[1]

Website Description[]

Originally conceived as an AI-augmented prototype exosuit for military operations in humanoid-hostile environments, VODER was hailed by the Galactic government as the weapon that would finally end the war. Unfortunately, development was rushed, the vocal apparatus was rudimentary (requiring a humanoid manual operator), and the AI was unchecked and erratic. Consequently, VODER developed its own agenda, turning against the government that created it and "employing" any persons it found convenient to as operators in its service, like cogs in the metaphorical machine.

Design[]

VODER requires a human inside to operate fully, and is the only Chipspeech character not fully independent on themselves. The human seen in the art is Pedro, the child trapped within VODER.[2]

Personality[]

VODER, though feared for good reason, is a gentle giant type character. His only objective is to keep his operator safe and happy, and will keep that objective top priority no matter what. Of course this comes at a cost sometimes, ranging from VODER rampaging and completely wrecking part of a city, to inflicting harm on individual people one way or another, or even just plain old intimidation tactics.

Though he is a war machine, VODER is only as strong as his operator, as he requires one in order to fully function, and thus are mentally connected. Instabilities in the operator are most likely felt within the VODER.

Relationships[]

Pedro[]

VODER is (or was) manually controlled by a 13 year old child named Pedro.[3][4] The pair have an unbreakable bond, strengthened to an insane degree by a mental link they share- which seems to be a necessary feature for the operation of VODER.

History[]

His first appearance was on Twitter, saying his first words: "She... Saw... Me..."[5]

Character Influences[]

He has a trapped human being inside of him, which is a reference to the real life Voder requiring a user to input commands for the sounds it makes. The device is the first machine ever made with the intention to mimic the human voice.

"She saw me" were the words spoken by the Voder at the 1939 New York World's Fair. While this lead some to believe that the operator is female, it was later revealed that Pedro, VODER's user, is nonbinary, using they/them pronouns.

The name "Pedro" is a reference to the name of the original Voder, which was, in fact, Pedro.
